Mr. William Stuart WalkerThe late Mr. William Stuart Walker was the founder of Stuarts and was considered to be a pioneer of the offshore industry in the Cayman Islands and a leading figure in the development of the Cayman Islands as a major offshore finance jurisdiction from its inception.

He attended Trinity Hall Cambridge University where he obtained an M.A. with Honours in 1948 and he obtained a diploma from the International Management Institute (now the International Institute for Management Development) in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1953. He was admitted as a barrister at law in England and Wales in 1950 and as an attorney at law in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands in 1963.

Mr. Walker was the founder of the law firm W.S. Walker & Company (now Walkers) in 1963.

In recognition of his services to the International Financial Industry of the Cayman Islands, he was appointed by Her Majesty the Queen as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1978.

Mr. Walker was a past President of the Cayman Islands Law Society, the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce and the Cayman Islands branch of the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners. He was also a member of the International Bar Association, the International Tax Planning Association and International Associate member of the American Bar Association.
