Growth in the Hedge Fund Industry

According to data provider Eurekahedge, Hedge funds were up 1.59 percent in February 2015, the second consecutive month of gains this year and the size of the hedge fund industry globally grew by US$125.9 billion in 2014.

This is good news for the industry but it is still significantly lower than the growth seen in 2013 when assets under management grew by US$240.4 billion. This data also shows that on average, funds returned 4.46 percent in the first 11 months of 2014 compared with the 8.76 percent return of the Eurekahedge index in 2013.
