Andrew was a founding director of Stuarts.

Andrew’s practice areas include investment funds, corporate finance, lending and restructuring. Andrew is one of the leading legal counsels in the Cayman Islands advising hedge funds, private equity funds, other investment funds and large institutions on corporate finance matters. His clients include large institutions, fund managers, investment funds and investment banks. He is also regularly engaged by other participants and professional advisers, in particular onshore counsel on a variety of transactions. His practice is divided between the US and Europe. Andrew is a director for Stuarts Corporate Services Ltd. and Southern Management Services Ltd.

Andrew advises on several complex hedge fund restructurings. He has also advises on the formation and launch of hedge funds and private equity funds and on corporate re-organisations, fiduciary matters and debt restructurings, as well as on a number of leading investment banks on finance and security issues in the Cayman Islands.

Chris is the Managing Director of Stuarts. He joined in 2004 as one of the founding directors. As head of the specialist investment funds team and considered a leader in his field, he has registered several hundred mutual funds with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority and frequently advises on regulatory and compliance issues involving funds, investment managers and fund administrators. Chris advises on the strategic restructuring of funds, the delay in redemption payments and other redemption restrictions as well as the use of side pockets or special purpose vehicles for illiquid assets and investor communications and disputes. Chris establishes investment managers and fund administrators in the Cayman Islands and advises on their respective regulatory regimes. He has extensive experience in all types of fund structures including master-feeder and fund of fund structures as well as the establishment of complex fund platforms using exempted companies and/or partnerships and the use of segregated portfolio companies. Chris is a director for Stuarts Corporate Services Ltd. and Southern Management Services Ltd.

James is a member of the specialist investment funds team at Stuarts Humphries and advises on all aspects of the set-up, operation and closure of investment funds. He advises on the regulatory framework governing funds and their managers in the Cayman Islands. James also has a broad experience on a wide range of corporate and commercial transactions for private and listed clients.

James joined Stuarts as an Associate in 2014 having previously worked in the Corporate department of Eversheds LLP where he focused primarily on private equity work but also covered a wide range of high value and complex corporate transactions including M&A, private equity, public company transactions, intra-group reorganisations and general corporate advisory work. The majority of the transactions he advised on included a cross-border element, including in Europe, Africa, the Channel Islands, the Middle East and Far East.

Richard qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in March 1995 and has over 20 years’ experience of complex international commercial litigation, arbitration and insolvency matters. He was admitted as an Attorney-at-Law in the Cayman Islands in June 2000 and joined Stuarts Humphries in March 2005. He has consistently been recommended by the Legal 500 in respect of litigation work in the Cayman Islands. Having previously worked for over 5 years at Clifford Chance in London and for over 2 years at White & Case in London, Richard’s experience includes a wide variety of corporate, commercial and insurance disputes.

Richard has extensive international arbitration experience having been involved in various ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL and LMAA arbitrations, including appearing before Arbitral Tribunals. He has appeared in both the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands and Court of Appeal in the Cayman Islands as well as acting in proceedings before the Privy Council.

Martha Coultrap is a partner and the head of the Private Investment Funds Group in the Finance Group. She represents institutional and family office investors in connection with their primary and secondary investments in unregistered investment funds. Her institutional clients include funds of funds, regulated financial institutions, public and private pension funds, foreign pension funds and family offices; the investments funds are U.S. and offshore buy-out, growth, venture capital, and special situations’ funds. Other commercial matters Ms. Coultrap handles include fund formation, senior debt financings and equity investments in low income housing and new market tax credit transactions, bank regulatory compliance, and corporate and partnership governance matters.

Wes Sturdevant is a Director and Head of the Private Client Business of DB Private Equity. He is responsible for strategic business development as well as product development and structuring. Mr. Sturdevant held a similar position as part of the Private Equity Group in Deutsche Bank’s Private Wealth Management division and was instrumental in raising and managing approximately $5 billion of capital on behalf of Deutsche Bank’s high net worth clients.

Prior to joining Deutsche Bank in 2000, Mr. Sturdevant was a Vice President at Goldman, Sachs & Co. involved in various private fund initiatives launched by Goldman Sachs Asset Management and Goldman Sachs PIA. Prior to joining Goldman, Mr. Sturdevant was with Deloitte & Touche. Mr. Sturdevant is a Certified Public Accountant and received a B.A. from North Carolina State University.
