Ailsa Williamson Ailsa is admitted as an Attorney in the Cayman Islands and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1997. She is a member of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple and gained broad and extensive litigation experience practising as a barrister in London for 9 years prior to joining Stuarts. She has extensive experience of fraud, money-laundering and other financial civil and criminal matters. She has advised and represented clients in numerous seizure, restraint, confiscation and forfeiture proceedings involving substantial assets. Ailsa has prosecuted and defended criminal cases for over 9 years, predominantly in the Crown Court and Court of Appeal. She was recently instructed in cases involving allegations of attempted murder, serious violent offences, high-value robberies (including the Heathrow gold bullion robbery in 2004), firearms offences, child cruelty, internet pornography, and serious sexual offences. |
In addition, Ailsa has appeared in a number of cases involving large scale conspiracies to import and supply drugs including a trial involving the largest seizure of crack cocaine from an individual address in the United Kingdom. Ailsa has also appeared in applications for judicial review and writs of habeas corpus and advises in extradition proceedings. Ailsa undertakes family and matrimonial work, including divorce proceedings. Her civil litigation experience includes contractual disputes, advising companies and individuals on immigration matters including work permit applications, labour tribunal hearings and appeals, and licensing applications and appeals. Her experience of regulatory matters covers environmental cases and health and safety matters. Ailsa graduated from Emmanuel College, Cambridge University and obtained a Diploma in Law from City University.
